The NSPCC finally receive their money

Hiya,

I know I haven't really been updating this blog recently. I guess it's due to I just been busy with work and things. Plus the fact it has been a long time since my brief appearance in the papers and tv that I am back to being little ol Andy Palmer. (well not so little now as I've put on a stone recently!!!)

Anyway if anyone is reading this I am pleased to announce that the money I promised the NSPCC has now been paid over.

If you read some of the previous posts you will know that I promised the NSPCC 25% of my earnings for any job obtained through my eBay listing.

Well thanks to Simon Coulson who paid £1500 for my consultancy services, I was able to give the NSPCC £375.

It did take a while as initially I wanted the Kent Messenger to run the story to prove to people that I was a man of my word and did pay up. However for some reason after saying they would be interested, suddenly they weren't.

I then thought, "As long as I know I have paid the money I should then that is all that really matters" So I liased with Michelle from the NSPCC to present the cheque to her directly. Please see the lovely pic below
This was back in September but I didn't write anything about it until the cheque had been cashed.

Now the money has left my account and hopefully helping some kids in unfortunate circumstances.

Month's work over - New Job begins

My month's work with Simon Coulson of the Internet Business School is now over. I have to say thanks to Simon and the team for making me feel really welcome and I will miss working there.

Hello,

I hope you had a good weekend with all the sun. I didn't really see any of it as I spent Friday to Sunday learning.

Not the most rock and roll thing to be doing over a weekend but you can never stop learning as they say.

I was learning all about loads of different strategies on how increase traffic to websites. It was really interesting if you are a bit of a geek like myself. However there was one strange thing.

I didn't see what happened but I saw one bloke punch another in the face a few times. It was late on a saturday night in a dodgy part of town. This was mid afternoon in a quiet seminar!! Now I don't know what was said but all I do know is that you should never be the first to throw a punch as it's just not cricket.

Anyway that was very surreal but didn't detract from some great tips I learnt. It really was a fantastic event. I even managed to win a prize from the raffle draw at the end. Yay!!

It is hard to believe I have completed my first week of my eBay contract work. Even though it is quite late now I have to complete a report for tomorrow, so I guess I'd better get started. I have just set up my speech recognition so hopefully it should take that long.... should I really be admitting that in public :-) I'm sure it's ok as long as I get the work done.

I thought I would give a little run down of my month's contract. I am employed as a freelance business development manger for a company called Logicworks. My main role will be to develop new business for a coaching course offered by Simon Coulson (Which can be found at http://www.simoncoulson.com/coaching/courses09.htm)

A New Job On The Horizon

Hello,

I have to say once again thank you to everyone for their support and for all the opportunities that were offered to me.

I have finally decided to take an offer with Simon Coulson, founder of the internet business school.

I am really excited to be working for Simon and I am so grateful to be given the opportunity. Although this transaction will not be made via eBay (due to being banned from the auction area) I will still pay the NSPCC 25% of the money I earn once the month is over.

A man has put himself up for sale on eBay in a bid to find work.

Andy Palmer, 30, of Plains Avenue, Maidstone, has taken the bold step of advertising himself for sale – or rather his labour for a month.

He was made redundant from a business development role with Northern Rock, in August. Despite finding temporary contracts, permanent work has eluded him.

As well as taking more traditional job-hunting routes by contacting recruitment agencies, Mr Palmer, a qualified mortgage adviser, hit upon the idea of auctioning himself online to bargain hunters.

He has also posted his CV as a blog, in a bid to make his skills stand out.

Under his eBay listing "Hire a Fantastic Employee for a Month", he states he is prepared to do any work, for a month, as long as he is trained and it does not involve sex or illegal activities.

A starting bid of £1,000 has been set for his labours, and 25 per cent of the final sale price will go to the NSPCC charity.

How To Find A Great Employee

Hello and welcome to my blog,

In this current economic climate it is difficult to find work. Also with the higher numbers of people looking for work it is difficult to find an employee.

It is possible to use a recruitment agency and that will save a lot of time when searching for an employee. However there is a cost associated with that and time, which an employer may not have.

I am in the process of looking for work and I thought rather than just going to agencies and applying for jobs the normal way, maybe I should try something different.

So in the next post I will give a bit of background of what I can bring to a role and then my C.V. details.
